"Fighting Back Legally"
The Many Rivers Family Violence Prevention Legal Service has been operating in Kempsey since 1998 and was the first such office in Australia. It is funded by NSW Attorney General’s Department.
The Many Rivers Family Violence Prevention Legal Service provides legal advice, support, representation, community education, assistance and referral for Aboriginal families who experience family / domestic violence.
The service provides a friendly place to meet and talk. Feel free to drop in for a cuppa.
What the Service Provides
Our team will:
Go to court with you.
Help you get Court Orders (AVO's) to protect you and your children.
Help you and your partner agree on Residence Contact Orders for your children.
Tell you about other services you may need, e.g. Housing, Centrelink, Community Health and help you contact these services.
Tell you about your right to claim Victim's Compensation.
Hold frequent community education workshops.
Offer Family Mediation when appropriate.
