The Port Macquarie Hastings Domestic Violence Committee is committed to working collaboratively to enhance responses to women and children in our community experiencing or affected by domestic violence.
Our Aim
The aim of the Port Macquarie Hastings Domestic Violence Committee is:
To raise local community awareness of the unacceptability and criminality of domestic violence.
To enhance interagency responses to women and children who are victims of domestic violence
To address issues of violence against all women in our community including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, younger women, older women, lesbians and women with disabilities.
About us
The Port Macquarie Hastings Domestic Violence Committee was formed over 15yrs ago as a strategy of the State Government to enhance community responses to women and children experiencing domestic violence. The government offered a $600 annual payment to committees to assist with community awareness campaigns and other relevant strategies.
The Hastings Women and Children's Refuge auspice the Port Macquarie Hastings Domestic Violence Committee which is made up of representatives from many Government and Non-Government agencies such as:
